Intercim's Parent EMS® Merges With IFS

September 1, 1999

Intercim, a division of Effective Management Systems, Inc. (EMS®), announced today that its parent company, EMS, will be acquired by Industrial & Financial Systems Americas, Inc. (IFS - a Delaware corporation).   Intercim will become a wholly owned subsidiary of IFS Americas Inc., which is part of Sweden-based IFS AB.

John Todd, Intercim's President said, "One of Intercim's fundamental tenets is a disciplined focus on our clients strategic business objectives.   We are delighted that IFS embraces a similar "customer first" cultural foundation.   As a subsidiary of IFS, we will have the ability to accelerate our growth plans, while sustaining the support for our customer base of the world's most prestigious manufacturing companies."

IFS and Intercim share a common software technology architecture that recognizes the disparate nature of our customers enterprise information systems.   Thus, Intercim's FACTORYnet suite will continue to facilitate the assembly of component-based software solutions, including the ontinued support for the integration of FACTORYnet with multiple ERP systems.   Intercim's NC Solution Center will continue to develop and market its world-class CAM and numerical control software solutions through both direct and alternate distribution channels.

Terje Vangbo, President and Chief Executive Officer of IFS Americas Inc. commented, "IFS is experiencing record growth this year, and our future growth plans are even more aggressive.   Since the U.S. market is critical to maintaining our momentum, we believe strategic acquisitions are necessary.   It might have taken years to build an experienced pool of industry-knowledgeable professionals who know and understand our U.S. target market of manufacturers that require operations-oriented software systems.   The Intercim/EMS acquisition gives us immediate access to some of the finest manufacturing-software talent in the industry."
